TaxoPress Acquires Tag Groups Plugin to Enhance WordPress Taxonomy Solutions

TaxoPress, a leading WordPress plugin for organizing and categorizing content, has announced its acquisition of the Tag Groups plugin from developer Christoph Amthor. The move unites two powerful tools to offer WordPress users enhanced solutions for managing and displaying taxonomy terms.

What Is the Tag Groups Plugin?

Tag Groups is a versatile plugin that allows users to organize taxonomy terms into groups, making it easier to display and filter content. Its features cater to a variety of use cases, such as:

  • Recipe websites: Visitors can filter recipes by ingredients, cuisine, or dietary preferences.
  • Photography sites: Images can be made searchable by keywords like year, location, or subject.
  • Tag Clouds: Users can visually display and categorize tags for improved navigation.

The plugin’s ability to filter and search content based on taxonomy terms has made it a valuable tool for both flat taxonomies, such as WooCommerce product tags, and hierarchical content structures.

A New Home at TaxoPress

The acquisition comes as Christoph Amthor, the creator of Tag Groups, expressed his readiness to move on. In collaboration with the TaxoPress team, the plugin will now become a core part of TaxoPress’s offerings.

  • The main TaxoPress plugin will focus on managing taxonomy terms.
  • The Tag Groups plugin will concentrate on frontend display features, such as tag clouds and content filters.

What’s Next for Tag Groups Users?

TaxoPress plans to gradually migrate the plugin’s demos, documentation, and license keys from ChattyMango.com to TaxoPress.com. This process will take some time and is expected to be completed by early 2023.

“We’re excited to welcome Tag Groups to the TaxoPress family,” said Steve Burge, TaxoPress founder. “This addition allows us to better serve WordPress users by combining powerful tools for managing and displaying taxonomy terms.”
